The BMW iX1 is an electric crossover for drivers who do not want to change the familiar family-car formula. It has the compact footprint of the X1, but adds quiet operation, immediate response and easy everyday usability.

Two versions with different characters

The front-wheel-drive iX1 eDrive20 produces 204 hp and 250 Nm and reaches 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. The iX1 xDrive30 adds a second motor, all-wheel drive and 313 hp, cutting the sprint to 5.6 seconds.

Battery and real-world range

Both versions use a battery with about 64.7 kWh of usable capacity. Following the 2026 efficiency update, the eDrive20 can cover up to 502 km WLTP and the xDrive30 up to 468 km. A realistic mixed-driving expectation is roughly 400–430 km in mild weather and 315–345 km in winter.

Charging

Peak DC charging power is 130 kW. With a warm battery, a 10–80% session takes about 29 minutes. The standard onboard charger accepts 11 kW AC, while an optional 22 kW unit can significantly shorten an overnight charge.

Interior and practicality

The curved twin-screen display looks modern, rear-seat space is suitable for adults and the boot holds 490 litres. Touchscreen climate controls require some adjustment, although the infotainment is responsive and includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Who the BMW iX1 suits

The eDrive20 is the sensible family choice. The xDrive30 justifies its premium with stronger wet-weather traction and much livelier performance.
